16th August 2021

We love Corfu!

The island embodies the very best of Greek living: glorious sunshine, Mediterranean feasts, pristine beaches, and friendly locals.  You won’t need to look far to appreciate Corfu’s stunning landscape. From expansive, sandy beaches (here there is 200km of coastline) lapped by turquoise waters to rugged hills, there’s plenty to explore. You’ll also find incredible food! Greece invented the Mediterranean diet, and Corfu proudly upholds this tradition, serving a rich array of seafoods and seasonal vegetables. Additionally, it’s all presented with typically-welcoming Greek hospitality.

Our hand-picked Corfu villas are the perfect luxury hideaways to discover this beautiful island from, soak up some sunshine rays and spend quality time with loved ones.

Our Corfu Villas

We have chosen three incredible villas in Corfu, all of which meet our personal approval. Located in the north-east of the island, on the 40-acre Kardaki Estate, they benefit from total privacy and uninterrupted views across olive trees to the Ionian channel. The villas overlook the nearby Kalamaki bay which is the only sandy beach in North-East Corfu making it very popular with families.

With thoughtful, attractive architecture and infinity pools overlooking the ocean, your toughest decision will be choosing which villa you like best!

Villa Acacia (Sleeps 6)

The views are sublime, the house is gorgeous, the infinity pool spills out into the view beyond, and the beach is minutes away: welcome to Acacia! The house is designed to merge inside and out, as delicate cool pink fabrics and contemporary finishes creating beautiful contrasts with the solid, age-old rocks that make-up parts of the landscaped gardens. The house has two en-suite bedrooms in the main house as well as a separate self-contained en-suite bedroom.

Villa Jacaranda (Sleeps 8)

Surrounded by luscious vegetation whilst boasting glorious views over the sea, Villa Jacaranda is truly something special. The elegant, airy interiors are finished with pretty, quirky hand-picked fabrics and traditional elements sit comfortably alongside sleek contemporary finishes for a truly relaxed and enjoyable experience. Sleeping up to 8 guests, the house is laid out over 2 floors with each ensuite bedroom opening out onto a sea-view terrace.

Villa Mimosa (Sleeps 6)

The lovely Mimosa is one of the Kardaki Estate’s smaller villas with gorgeous views over the trees to the sea and the striking Albanian coastline beyond. Bespoke pieces and carefully chosen furniture contribute to its charm, and the house works equally well for families or for friends looking to base themselves in this sociable part of the island. The house has two en-suite bedrooms in the main house as well as a separate self-contained en-suite bedroom.

Best things to do in Corfu

Booking with Fish&Pips means gaining exclusive access to our expert travel advice. Since we’re feeling so generous, we’re willing to part with some of our must-dos’ for you:

1. Discover Corfu’s fascinating villages

Kassiopi has retained its roots as a fishing village, whilst enjoying a distinct injection of luxury in recent years. The pretty village square is barely 200m from the harbour, with load of cafés and restaurants serving delicious Greek cuisine in between. That’s not even mentioning the two spectacular beaches, offering water sports and motor-boat hire.

Perithia is a classic example of old Corfu villages away from the coastline. Sheltered in the hillsides, buildings have been constructed from local stone, with a history entrenched in agriculture. Perithia certainly attracts fewer headlines than coastal counterparts, making it one of the best-kept secrets on the island!

Acharavi is another bustling gem. What it might be missing in culture, it compensates for with a gorgeously-long beach offering water sports. You’ll be spoilt for choice with numerous beach bars scattered across the shingle, and plenty of restaurants lining the main high street.

2. Visit Corfu’s glittering capital

Discover Corfu Old Town, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Located under an hour from your villa, you can look out for Venetian and more recent British influences. If you plan on a bit of partying, Corfu Town also has excellent nightlife. Do bear in mind, however, some drinks might be stronger than anticipated!

Dining in Corfu Old Town is unparalleled, with numerous, brilliant restaurants. One of our favourites is Pane e Souvlaki, a family-owned restaurant that prepares deliciously fresh souvlakis, salads, and mezes in the heart of Old Town, close to the port and city square. Their sister restaurant Pane e Psaraki is another fantastic option, effectively being its seafood equivalent. Here, we love the small fried shrimp and the fresh grilled catch of the day.

Salto Donzelot is a firm favourite with locals. This wonderful bistro and wine bar has an interesting and creative menu. It’s a shade more expensive than others but is absolutely worth a visit to experience contemporary Greek cooking. For a truly top-end restaurant with fantastic wine options, look to Pomo D’Oro Skaramagka Square. The chef here uses local ingredients and traditional ideas to create modern Greek dishes. Located in a small, pretty square, al fresco dining is brilliant on cool evenings.

3. Exploring Corfu’s beaches is an absolute must!

Expansive and drenched in sunlight, the sea is deliciously warm and inviting. Luscious vegetation surrounding the rugged cliffs and hills provide a fantastic backdrop. Motor-boats can be hired from almost anywhere, whilst many beaches also offer windsurfing, paddle-boarding, and other water sports.

Kalamaki Bay, located just minutes from our luxury villas, is our personal favourite. The only sandy beach in north-east Corfu, it’s lined with three tavernas to satiate any food or drink needs, and melts into shallow water. The roads to access this beach are steep, so do require care!

Faliraki, off the shores of Corfu Old Town, is a local hotspot made desirable by the platform for diving or jumping into the sea. In the shadow of the Old Fortress, it makes a great place to enjoy a quick dip in between wandering the streets of Corfu Old Town.

Krouzeri Beach is a broad, shingle beach with two tavernas serving traditional Greek dishes. The crystal-clear water is excellent not just for swimming, but a variety of water sports and even scuba diving. There is another with a steep access drive, so be cautious with this one too.
