Villa Ermelinda – Lake Maggiore, Italy
Nestled within pine forests, overlooking the Borromean Gulf, arguably the most special part of Lake Maggiore you will find Villa Ermelinda. Originally built in the 1940s this elegant mansion has been lovingly restored, decorated and furnished into a luxurious and atmospheric home. The villa is light and spacious with large glass windows to allow for the magnificent views of the lake below to be thoroughly enjoyed.
There are five en-suite bedrooms all of which are individually decorated and boast stunning views over the lake or the park.
Downstairs a grand entrance hall is home to a splendid Austrian grand piano and faces its own private garden furnished as an outside living room. The indoor living room features a green marble fireplace, perfect for snuggling up in front of with a book in the colder months, there is also an elegant dining room featuring Murano chandeliers for indoor dining, as well as a TV room, that the kids will appreciate, and which can also be made into a sixth bedroom.
We love that the basement of Villa Ermelinda has been transformed into a relaxation area. Here you will find a jacuzzi, Turkish bath, gym and relaxation beds! Unlike many other basements this one has large French windows that showcase the beautiful view of the lake and garden. The perfect place to unwind if you can draw yourself away from the swimming pool.
Outside the gardens are distributed over several levels with the sun bed lined swimming pool positioned in the perfect place to enjoy the views! Villa Ermelinda really is a private paradise, and a wonderful place to unwind and absorb the beauty and charm of Lake Maggiore.

Cruise Lake Maggiore in a private boat, visit the Borromean Islands, go walking in the hills in the Val Grande National Park, stroll around the lovely town of Stresa or exploring beyond to Lake Orta (30 mins away) and Lake Como (40 mins away). You can also play tennis and golf or go horse riding. Milan is an hour away if you fancy a day’s shopping outing.
