Safari Holidays

Discover our luxury safari holidays

An African safari is one of the most legendary trips you can make. This vast continent has some of the world’s last remaining wildernesses, encompassing sweeping savannahs, forests, floodplains and deserts, all teeming with magnificent wildlife, and where each destination is one of a kind. Our luxury safari portfolio covers some of the most spectacular locations throughout eastern and southern Africa, with a handpicked collection of superlative boutique lodges and camps. And each one has been tried and tested.

Destinations

Our African Destinations

The choice is bewildering, with each country promising its own unique safari experience. From the evocative and game rich Serengeti to the endless plains of its neighbour, the Masai Mara in Tanzania and Kenya. And from the fertile wetlands of the Okavango Delta in Botswana to the salt pans of the arid Namib desert, or the vast private game reserves of South Africa, that are nearly as big as a small country.

Our safaris visit the continent’s most famous destinations, together with many lesser known, way off the beaten track locations in Zambia, Namibia and Malawi.

The camps & lodges

From intimate thatched cottages nestling on a riverbank, to old style canvas camps with private plunge pools overlooking the savannah, and from desert retreats built into the rock to stilted huts amongst ebony trees, all our camps and lodges offer a luxurious setting with first rate service. Most take only a few guests, and others boast locations in private reserves where numbers are restricted. Most importantly, they all come with excellent expert guiding – the key to ensuring the very best safari experience.

Wildlife

Without doubt, the flora and fauna of Africa is stunning, from aardvark to zebra and everything in between. Whichever destination in our portfolio you choose, you are guaranteed to see a spectacular array of wildlife.

Talk to us about what you’d like to see – is it the Big 5, or the mesmerising annual migration across the Mara River? Or maybe, you’re in search of Africa’s more endangered species – black rhino, or wild dog? Or perhaps you love birding and have yet to a flock of carmine bee-eaters or a lake teeming with flamingo? We’ll advise on the best locations and safaris for what you’re hoping to see.

Climate

Dry or rainy season, there are often better times to travel, which vary across the continent. Many of the lodges are year round destinations, whilst others operate only for a few months a year. We’ll advise you on where to visit and when, and what you can expect to see. This is especially important if the great wildebeest migration is on your wish list.

Activities

The game drive is the staple of every safari – exploring the bush with an expert guide as dawn breaks or the sun sets, getting up close to some of nature’s finest creatures. Most of our camps and lodges are far enough away from their neighbours to enable you solo viewings – with not another vehicle in sight. Many start the minute you’re picked up from the airstrip.

We also partner with destinations whose walking safaris are some of the most exceptional in Africa – tracking game in places that even a 4WD can’t access – allowing you to gain a deeper connection to the landscape and see wildlife from a unique vantage point. Many offer horseback safaris – an exhilarating and romantic way to see game. Throughout Botswana, you can take to the waterways in a mokoro (dugout canoe) or boat, and in many places there’s the chance to catch and release fish. For a bird’s eye view of the savannah, nothing beats a dawn balloon ride (usually followed by a champagne breakfast), or a helicopter flight over some of the landscapes most incredible features. Then there are the more unusual activities that get you under the skin of Africa. Spend time in a Masai village; visit a local school; bead with the Samburu or track game with San bushmen. Guests also have the chance to become involved in conservation efforts – learning about anti-poaching initiatives; planting indigenous trees and visiting rehabilitation sanctuaries for endangered species.
