New for 2012-2013

5th July 2012

There has been much talk in Meribel recently about what is coming up on the horizon for the approching winter. If you want to know where all that money for your lift passes goes then take a trip to Meribel in the summer! S3V seem to be spending a fortune on all sorts of upgrades to the Meribel lift system and pistes. The lower stage of the Saulire Express is well under way, the old yellow bubbles are all now sat in a row at the Chaudanne ready to be whisked away to their new home. The whole project has cost a reported €20 million, that is around 81,833 three valley, six day adult lift passes (€244.40 last winter).

Other improvements include a new 10 man gondola to replace stages one and two of the Platières lift in Mottaret. This will be the only 10 person gondola in the three valleys and will significantly decreas the amount of congestion often found in this part of the valley. Some of the tricky runs in to resort are also due to be widened and made much gentler – namely the Martre piste into Mottaret as well as a new green run from the Saulire Express mid station extending the Blanchot Green run.

One of the most exciting developments is the arrival of our very own Folie Douce! Situated just near the Saulire Express mid station, the famous après venue from Val d’Isere and Val Thorens is under construction at the moment. Good news for our Meribel Village guests who will be able to ski back to their chalets from the bar after an afternoon of dancing on the tables!!

S3V have once again proved their committment to keeping Meribel and the Three Valleys at the top of the list when it comees to prestigious ski areas, watch this space for more developments!
