Three Valley restaurants recommended by Fish&Pips
For most of us, a skiing holiday isn’t complete without good food, both in the chalet and out on the slopes. We don’t believe that expensive food is necessarily good food. What matters most is the quality.
As food lovers, over the past 12 years we have just about managed to eat our way round most of the restaurants the Three Valleys has to offer. And it offers a lot! We’ve carefully selected the choice of restaurants below to save you the trouble of trial and error. As we’re sure you’re aware this can be a rather expensive and often disappointing exercise. We’ve dedicated time and effort in personally researching these recommendations, purely for your benefit of course! For those we can’t recommend from personal experience, we have based our research on their reputation.
We thoroughly advise booking restaurants for lunch and the chalet night off, in advance. Please chat to your chalet host, chef or Resort Manager for advice and to make a reservation.
Not to be missed…
• Snack Bar in Mottaret for the legendary Mountain Burger, at only €7 and enough to feed a small army, it’s a bargain! Get there early to avoid queues.
• Adray Telebar, Méribel is an institution and a traditional French restaurant for a cake and hot chocolate pit stop. For only €5 you get a huge wedge of cake and a jug of hot chocolate by the fire.
• Les Fermes de Reberty, Les Menuires for lunch on a sunny day. Sit on the huge terrace, bask in the sunshine, and eat from their vast, yummy and ridiculously good value menu.
• Le Montagnard, St Martin for a cosy, indoor lunch on a snowy, cold day. Delightful, charming and rustic, this family-run restaurant serves great Alpine food at reasonable prices.
• La Bouitte, St Marcel for a Michelin Star dining experience that rivals most. In the picturesque village of St Marcel, you adventure there off piste if the snow is good, otherwise a mini bus can pick you up from Saint Martin.
• Cave de Creux, Courchevel for amazing views of Mont Blanc and large south facing sun terrace. A go to for anyone wanting great service, contemporary food and a bustling hub.
• Clos Bernard, Méribel Altiport is really accessible for skiers and non-skiers and, nestled in the trees, feels like a real adventure getting there, so is a must even just for a drink.
• La Folie Douce, Méribel will once again open its doors on the Méribel slopes this winter for some piste side partying, great food at La Fruitière and their other restaurants – not to be missed – particularly the ski afterwards back down to your chalet.
On The Mountain for Lunch
You can’t beat a good lunch on the mountain be it a picnic, a long boozy lunch, a fleeting snack to fuel you for a full day’s skiing, or simply a mountain spag bol!
Portetta, Courchevel 1650 – +33 (0) 4 79 08 01 47
Angela Hartnett has taken on the restaurant at this lovely hotel in Courchevel 1650. Sit on the terrace and soak up the sunshine and terrific views or cosy up in the restaurant and enjoy some Savoyard food with an Italian twist. The perfect spot for lunch in the sunshine, with some pretty amazing food to boot!
Panoramique, top of Saulire – +33 (0) 4 79 08 00 88
This stunning restaurant on top of the world offers a lunch stop that won’t be forgotten in a hurry. Enjoy spectacular views of Mont Blanc with some wonderful food and great service. It is pretty pricey but such a lovely place for a lunch with a view.
La Frutière – Folie Douce Méribel – +33 (0) 4 79 00 58 31
Do you like to party? Then this is the place for you! With daily cabaret shows and a party on the piste that keeps going until the last lifts, La Fruitière is a great place to start your après-ski fun. Tables outside are the ones to go for, especially on a sunny day for a front row seat to the show! The food is very good and we think definitely worth the extra few euros. Even better are the magnums of rosé to wash it all down with!
La Blanchot, Méribel Altiport – +33 (0) 4 79 00 55 78
Located at the top of Le Lapin run to Méribel Village, Le Blanchot is a pretty chalet-style restaurant with a great sun terrace. It serves elegant French food and is a great lunch spot for beginners.
Le Plan des Mains, Méribel – +33 (0) 4 79 07 31 06
With numerous winters under its belt, this restaurant has proved very popular – either opt for the Gastronomique (seven courses) in the restaurant upstairs or something from the snack bar downstairs. Extremely well located at the base of Mt Vallon with unbeatable access to the Three Valleys.
La Bouitte, St Martin de Belleville – +33 (0) 4 79 08 96 77
Michelin star winning restaurant in the picturesque village of St Martin de Belleville – this is mountain dining at its best – but your wallet may be slightly lighter when you leave! While away an afternoon and indulge in some of the finest food out there. Ideal for bad weather days!
L’Oxalys, Val Thorens – +33 (0) 4 79 00 12 00
Another with a Michelin Star, L’Oxalys is part of the hotel by the same name. If you’re into fine dining, then this will knock your socks off especially for only 50 euros for five courses of absolutely exquisite cuisine.
Le Soucoupe, Couchevel /La Tania – +33 (0) 4 79 08 21 34
Great for an indulgent lunch with a superb view down the Courchevel Valley. Alternatively makes a great bolt hole in bad weather conditions with a roaring fire and a cracking wine list. It is Courchevel though so prepare yourself for the bill!
Cap Horne, Courchevel 1850 – +33 (0) 4 79 08 33 10
Located at the bottom of the Suisse piste, this restaurant certainly has a reputation as the ‘place to be’ in Courchevel. It’s a popular place for a long lunch, often somewhat debauched, with the DJ playing in the piste-basher on the terrace and scantily-clad singers parading up and down. It’s definitely worth a visit even just for a hot chocolate (again, watch out for prices) or a spot of people-watching. However, be aware that quality of food and service is often inconsistent.
Le Chabichou, Courchevel 1850 – +33 (0) 4 79 08 00 55
This is a 2 Michelin Star restaurant with a great reputation. It has a lovely sunny terrace, great service and delightful cuisine with real attention to detail.
Le Chalet des Pierres, Courchevel 1850 – +33 (0) 4 79 08 18 61
Another ‘place to be seen’ in Courchevel, this is a huge chalet with a vast terrace in a sun-trap on the edge of the Verdons piste. The food is good, but the prices are steep and service can be a little hit and miss. However, if you’re prepared to splash out then the sushi platter is well worth it, and if you want entertainment whilst eating, you’ll certainly get it here.
Chabotte, Courchevel 1850 – +33 (0) 4 79 08 00 55
The bistro restaurant attached to the ever so chic Chabichou Hotel is definitely worth checking out. With food to rival its Michelin starred sister restaurant, it’s a great choice for a special lunch that won’t break the bank. More relaxed than the Chabichou, why not combine it with a trip to their lovely Spa? Particularly good for non-skiers.
La Bouche à Oreille, Top of Roc des 3 Marches, Les Menuires – +33 (0) 4 79 00 46 48
The Three Michelin star chefs from La Bouitte, René and Maxime Meilleur, have opened a new gourmet bistro. Located at the top of the Roc des 3 Marches, at 2700 m altitude, the restaurant Le Bouche à Oreille recently underwent a complete transformation. Today the alpine design dining room seats 170 people and a large terrace on 2 levels seats a further 250 while offering superb 360 panoramic views.
L’Etoile des Neiges, St Martin de Belleville – +33 (0) 4 79 08 92 80
Nestled right in the centre of the very picturesque village of St Martin de Belleville, this restaurant provides ambiance and character. Family run, it serves up some delicious traditional French delights to satisfy your French taste buds.
Les Verdons, Courchevel 1850 – +33 (0) 4 79 04 07 07
Situated right in the middle of Courchevel ski domain, Les Verdons makes a perfect meeting point for skiers and non-skiers a like, as it’s accessible from two of the main lifts. Here you have the best of both worlds and a choice between a buffet or an à la carte menu. This is also a convenient place to stop for a quick bite or coffee on a sunny day before exploring the rest of the Three Valleys.
Bouc Blanc, top of the La Tania bubble – +33 (0) 4 79 08 80 26
This old favourite has lots to offer this year with a newly refurbished snack bar. The food here is excellent value and the service is quick – even when they are busy! We highly recommend their huge omelette or amazing Beaufort cheese tart – délicieux!
Le Rond Point, Meribel – +33 (0) 4 79 00 37 51
Voted one of the best après bars in the world with a fantastic ski-in/ski-out suntrap terrace. The British run restaurant offers good pizza, pasta and burgers as well as rostis and other good alternatives to Savoie cuisine. The food is good, but can be over-priced. Do book as it gets very full most days. It is a great base for families and beginners, a good option for a group of mixed abilities and also non-skiers as it can be accessed by the piste or bus.
Adray Telebar, Meribel – +33 (0) 4 79 08 60 26
Serving lunch and supper, the Adray is a great alternative to the Rond Point. It is an up market restaurant tucked away just by the Adray chairlift at Rond Point. The restaurant has a wonderful traditional interior with a log fire and a superb sun terrace. Great for lunch but even better for hot chocolate and cake in the late afternoon. Non skiers can get a skidoo from the road over too which is a nice little touch.
Roc Tania, Col de Loz – +33 (0) 4 79 08 32 34
At the top of the Col de Loz linking the Méribel and Couchevel Valleys, this is ideally positioned to watch the parapenters fly over on a sunny day. Good Savoie food, with a big terrace, and ideal for a long lazy lunch in the sun. From here you can ski straight down to Méribel, so no need to worry about the last lift!
Lodge de Village, Méribel Village – +33 (0) 4 79 01 03 55
The Lodge du Village caters for one and all from 10am to 1am every day of the week. It is at the bottom of the piste in the Village and is great for a quick spot of lunch or an evening beer! The LDV has a good choice of Italian starters, mains, desserts and specials.
Les Cretes, Méribel/St Martin – +33 (0) 6 09 40 51 04
Situated a short ski from the top of the Tougnete bubble, this is a great stop off if you are on that side of the mountain. Middle range steaks and general Savoie food.
La Montagnard, St Martin – +33 (0) 4 79 01 08 40
This fabulous little restaurant is ideal for a cosy indoor lunch on a snowy, cold day. Delightful, charming and rustic, this family-run restaurant serves great Alpine food at reasonable prices.
La Voute, St Martin de Belleville – +33 (0) 4 79 08 91 48
In a beautiful setting opposite the old church in the picturesque village of St Martin this restaurant serves great and filling food that’s not too pricey, the lasagna is monstrous!
La Ferme de Reberty, Les Menuires – +33 (0) 4 79 00 77 01
Located in Reberty 2000 – La Ferme has a welcoming interior which opens onto a large terrace on the slopes and has extensive lunch and dinner menus. Though this is one of the top three places in Les Menuires, the fixed-price menu can be relatively affordable at about €25 for appetizer, entrée and dessert.
Bel Air, Courchevel 1650 – +33 (0) 4 79 08 00 93
One of the most popular restaurants in the whole Three Valleys due to its great sun terrace that faces out onto the piste and its rows of deck chairs in which to sit back and relax. The food is simple and delicious, plus very good value. Reservations are essential as it gets very booked up on sunny days.

Village de Pains
It seems that picnicking on the mountain is becoming more and more popular. Either order in advance our F&P picnic-style lunches or make your way to the Golf chairlift via our glorious bakery for picnic goodies – huge baguettes filled to the brim with local cheese and ham, pastries, pizza, chocolate treats – you’ll be wanting to stop for lunch as soon as you get to the top of the chairlift!
Petit Rond Point, Méribel – +33 (0) 4 79 00 37 51
A snack bar on the lower ground floor of the Rond Point – it’s a great base for families and serves good Panini and chips.
Mottaret Snack Bar, Méribel Mottaret
A snack bar at the main lift area in Mottaret – home of the legendary 7 euro Mountain Burger.
Kudeta, Courchevel 1850
Just under the bridge on the right hand side in Courchevel, this restaurant serves burgers, salads and spaghetti bolognese and the snack bar outside serves a wide selection of hot and cold sandwiches, soups and salads. Big portions, reasonably priced.

It’s the best place for a cake and hot chocolate pit stop. For only 5 euros you get a huge wedge of cake and a jug of hot chocolate by the fire.

Extremely well located in the heart of the Three Valleys, this is a great lunch spot. The snack bar downstairs offers a huge and good quality sandwich, vat of soup and drink for only 10 euros. A bargain!
Courcheneige Snack Bar
Attached to the slightly more upmarket restaurant this is a great pit stop for those days spent cruising the Courchevel blue runs!
Polar Café, Croisette 1850
If you fancy a quick espresso whilst you’re waiting for friends this is the perfect place to stop. This delightful café is into its second season and perfectly positioned in Courchevel’s most central location. With its modern and quirky interior, it makes a nice change from the usual glamour that you would find in Courchevel. Why not pop in for the best coffee in the neighbourhood to get you on your way?
A little off the Beaten Track…
Clos Bernard, Méribel Altiport – +33 (0) 4 79 00 00 07
New to Méribel, this cabin in the woods is a magical place to stop for lunch. A short ski from the Piste des Animaux at the bottom of the Loze chairlift, this restaurant is tucked away in the forest, offering a lovely lunch menu with an excellent wine list to go with it. They are also open on Wednesday evenings for a Savoyard feast of fondue and all the trimmings. Definitely one not to be missed!

The perfect stop for your Val Thorens exploring days – this lovely restaurant offers a really good lunch menu for the hungry skier. Right on the side of the piste it’s easy to find and the food and service is really rather good.
La Cabane des Boucherons, Courchevel 1650 – +33 (0) 4 79 08 00 29
Right off the beaten track between Courchevel 1850 and 1650 you’ll find this old lumberjack’s hut in the heart of the forest. With a traditional Savoyard meal and lots of entertainment in the form of traditional music and dancing – not to mention lots of the local tipple, Genepi – this is a place for the Savoyard experience in all its glory! Booking via the Courchevel Tourist Office only.
Out For Supper in Méribel
Azimut, Le Praz – +33 (0) 4 79 06 25 90
A Michelin starred restaurant in the heart of Le Praz offering beautiful food and classic Michelin standard service this is well worth a visit. A short taxi ride away, Le Praz is a beautiful, traditional alpine village with winding streets, ancient chalets and some great little hideaways like the Azimut. They also offer some great set menus for the more budget conscious!
Le Clos Bernard – Wednesday evenings only – +33 (0) 4 79 00 00 07
Tucked away in the forest above Méribel, this is a magical place for a Savoyard evening out. You will be met by guides with flaming torchlights to guide you to their brand new restaurant. They offer a set menu including starter, fondue, dessert, coffee and genepi for €49 per head. Brilliant if you are in a big group – the atmosphere in there is lovely!

A firm favourite with locals, this restaurant is a great choice for a quiet evening out. It is owner run and offers a lovely menu (amazing steaks!) and great service.
Le Plantin, Méribel Village/ La Tania – +33 (0) 4 79 04 12 11
Situated just outside Méribel Village on the road to la Tania, Le Plantin has been completely rebuilt in an original mountain style using traditional wood and stone. This restaurant has an interesting and contemporary menu offering alternatives to the usual Savoyard style food.
Chez Kiki, Méribel 1600 – +33 (0) 4 79 08 66 68
This is the most famous restaurant in Méribel. Monsieur KiKi has sadly retired this season but his successor will still cook the steaks here to perfection over the fire. They are infamous in Méribel and absolutley melt in the mouth – an excellent choice for the carnivores amongst you, but not one for the veggies as choices are limited. You will need an elasticated wallet!

This restaurant is full of character and charm. It has an excellent menu with a choice of 12 Fois Gras and an exceptional list of fine wines. If you’re prepared to splash out, you won’t be disappointed.
Cro Magnon, Méribel 1600 – +33 (0) 4 79 00 57 38
A small and atmospheric Savoyard restaurant at Le Plateau, near the top of Méribel. The Cro Magnon offers great service and food (and plenty of it!) at reasonable prices.
L’Igloo, Méribel Centre – +33 (0) 4 79 08 07 84
A nice break from the traditional Savoyard restaurants, this bar/restaurant in Méribel Centre is best known for great pizzas and burgers, although they offer fancier food as well. Open 11am-11pm it’s a good place to know when other places have stopped serving. They have an in-built igloo (not real ice!) and it’s a great setting for a couple of cocktails as well!

The Lodge du Village (LDV) caters for one and all from 10am to 1am every day of the week. It boasts a fantastic new menu with everything from a Superfood Burger to BBQ ribs and tuna steaks. A firm favourite with guests and staff alike.
Le Bo a Mil, Méribel Village – +33 (0) 4 79 00 59 24
Rustic and traditional Savoyard food right on our doorstep here in Méribel Village. It’s a unique building set in the cellar of an old chalet. If you want a good fondue or an onion soup then it’s perfect at only a stone’s throw from our chalets. You only need one course here, portions are huge!
Le Refuge, Méribel Town Centre -+33 (0) 4 79 08 61 97
Méribel’s most popular eatery, it’s always full and buzzing. Great pizzas, steaks and pasta right in the heart of Méribel, ideal for families on the staff night off, or party goers who want a quick bite to eat before hitting the bars!
Le Fromagerie, Méribel Town Centre – +33 (0) 4 79 08 55 48
Traditional Savoyard food – fondue, raclette etc, but only really for the cheese lovers amongst you. It’s the best fondue in Méribel and the delicious charcuterie only stops coming when you’re full to the brim! Sample true local cuisine in the centre of Méribel, but beware of the smell of Le Fromage!
La Kouisena, Méribel Town Centre – +33 (0) 4 79 08 89 23
Slightly more variety here than at Le Fromagerie, but still good quality and traditional Savoyard food. It’s always busy and bustling, not small and intimate. Try not to sit near a fire whilst dining, you might self-combust.
Aux Petites Onions, Méribel 1600 – +33 (0) 4 79 08 64 62
Good quality, affordable French and fusion cuisine in a very cute and friendly restaurant in Méribel 1600.
La Tsaretta, Les Allues – +33 (0) 4 79 08 61 00
A variety of international foods and excellent pizzas are on offer at this lovely restaurant in Les Allues, the focal point for locals. Eating down here gives you the opportunity to see Les Allues, the original village in this valley and home to most of Méribel’s year round residents.

Recently built right next door to the Refuge de La Traye,the Refuge du Christ offers something a bit special. Tucked away at the top of the mountain with staggering views up the Méribel Valley and across the Grand Bec this Refuge offers delicious meals, an outdoor hot tub and friendly service for guests. There are rooms for anyone wanting to stay up there for the night (we recommend sneaking back to your cosy Fish & Pips chalet though!).
