It’s hard to find a hotel or a private chalet that is as slick and sophisticated as 5* La Mourra. Modern alpine on the outside and seriously chic interiors with wooden beams, soft lighting and designer furniture, it’s jaw droppingly stunning. We love the attentive service here too. From lunch and dinner reservations, to booking ski lessons and spa treatments, the staff are exceptionally helpful and efficient. The Japanese restaurant with its hint of French must be tried at least once during your stay, whilst you’re only a short distance from the fabulous choice that Val d’Isère has to offer. And each morning and afternoon, let the private shuttle service collect you and carry your skis.
This unique hotel is built as a mountain hamlet and consists of a hotel, spa, restaurant, lounge bar and four luxury private chalets. All the rooms, suites and chalets are individually designed and decorated. Wooden panelling, sumptuous beds, beautiful fabrics and enormous and luxurious bathrooms, they each exude style and charm. The Junior Suites come in varying sizes, and are all roomy, with a large living area and dressing room – some with a balcony. You’re in serious danger of getting a bit too comfortable in the Two-Bedroom Suites, and the marble bathrooms are something else. There are four private chalets, sleeping between 11 and 16. Each has its own pool, sauna and hammam and come with a professional chef and host.
The cuisine stakes have also been upped here with the restaurant serving intriguing and delicious Japanese and French fusion cuisine. The breakfasts are particularly good, especially the homemade pastries. Guests can also eat at La Mourra’s sister hotel Le Blizzard in the heart of Val d’Isère, where you’ll find more traditional French dishes.
Many of the suites have pull-out beds and the chalets come with rooms for children. Babysitting can be arranged for both daytime and evenings.
A visit to the spa is a must – even if it’s just to sit in the marble tiled steam room. The 17m pool has a counter current; there are personal trainers; yoga and a whole range of treatments and therapies which the staff will be happy to book for you.
