In our opinion, Le Blizzard is one of the most gorgeously decorated hotels in the Alps. Comfortable and elegant, with individual pieces that the owners have curated over the years, it’s full of charm and character. Typically Savoyard in style, the whole atmosphere here is one of conviviality and relaxed warmth, with friendly staff always on hand to help with anything. Delicious local cuisine and very comfortable rooms make this one of the best places to stay in Val d’Isere. Combine this with its central location – close to the lifts and everything the village has to offer – you’re guaranteed a fabulous few days away.
There’s a very good selection of rooms and suites here, all of them spacious and equipped with TVs, a safe and minibar. Wooden panelled walls, snuggly throws on the beds, luxury bathrooms and balconies with views over the slopes or the village – each and every one is a haven to come back to after a day on the mountain. And some even have their own fireplaces. Mountain View rooms, Deluxe Mountain View rooms and Deluxe Superior Village View rooms are ideal for couples. Some of the Deluxe Village View Rooms can interconnect with a Junior Suite Mountain View, making them great for families. It’s a struggle to leave many of the suites each morning – they are so exquisitely furnished. Some sleep two, whilst the larger ones can sleep up to four (children love the bunk beds), and some of the Two Bedroom Suites can sleep up to six. We can advise you on the best combination.
Guests have a good choice between Le Blizzard for both lunch and dinner and La Luge grill which specializes in Savoyard cuisine. Both use locally sourced and seasonal produce. You can also have dinner at the hotel’s sister property – La Mourra – a delicious Japanese restaurant. The bar at Le Blizzard has a rather good cocktail menu!
Le Blizzard is really family friendly – older children love hanging out at the pool table whilst parents linger over dinner and babysitting can be arranged for younger ones. Cots are provided for those under three and the family suites are especially roomy.
Don’t forget to pack a swimming costume when you come here – the outdoor pool with its mountain views is a must. There’s also a hot tub, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The Spa uses Clarins products and you can book morning yoga and stretch.
