Hotel Le Blizzard – Val d’Isère
Hotel Type: Good old fashioned luxury in the heart of Val d’Isère. This sumptuous hotel is the perfect place to wind down after a day on the slopes. Located on Val d’Isère central street, the hotel is perfectly placed for exploring the town and discovering the bars and restaurants. It’s also got everything you might need if braving the cold isn’t what you fancy.
Location: In Val d’Isère’s town centre, being perfectly placed for accessing the lifts and town centre alike.
Style: Traditional 5* alpine luxury is what you will fine at Le Blizzard. Their lounge is one of our favourite spots in Val d’Isère, with huge comfy sofas arranged around the fireplace – perfect for some après-ski cocktails!
Rooms: The hotel has 70 rooms and suites, with a variety of views and styles. All rooms have been individually designed to make the most of the views with wood panelling and cosy throws. Some rooms have a fireplace as well.
Ideal For: Le Blizzard welcomes groups of all sizes, but we think it’s a particularly good spot for a holiday with friends or extended family. There’s plenty on offer for skiers and non-skiers alike, with the spa and outdoor pool, as well as the fantastic location in the heart of Val d’Isère. The hotel is family friendly with space in most rooms for a cot.
Dining: The hotel’s 2 restaurants will keep you well-fed throughout your stay, offering traditional menus made from locally-sourced, seasonal produce. There is also the option for hotel residents to dine in the hotel’s sister restaurant La Mourra, offering Asian fusion. For us, it’s the cocktails that really stand-out, as the bartenders will whip up anything to suit your fancy! It’s a firm favourite of Clare and Holly’s – not to be missed on a trip to Val d’Isère.

In our opinion, Le Blizzard is one of the most gorgeously decorated hotels in the Alps. Comfortable and elegant, with individual pieces that the owners have curated over the years, it’s full of charm and character. Typically Savoyard in style, the whole atmosphere here is one of conviviality and relaxed warmth, with friendly staff always on hand to help with anything. Delicious local cuisine and very comfortable rooms make this one of the best places to stay in Val d’Isere. Combine this with its central location – close to the lifts and everything the village has to offer – you’re guaranteed a fabulous few days away.
There’s a very good selection of rooms and suites here, all of them spacious and equipped with TVs, a safe and minibar. Wooden panelled walls, snuggly throws on the beds, luxury bathrooms and balconies with views over the slopes or the village – each and every one is a haven to come back to after a day on the mountain. And some even have their own fireplaces. Mountain View rooms, Deluxe Mountain View rooms and Deluxe Superior Village View rooms are ideal for couples. Some of the Deluxe Village View Rooms can interconnect with a Junior Suite Mountain View, making them great for families. It’s a struggle to leave many of the suites each morning – they are so exquisitely furnished. Some sleep two, whilst the larger ones can sleep up to four (children love the bunk beds), and some of the Two Bedroom Suites can sleep up to six. We can advise you on the best combination.
Guests have a good choice between Le Blizzard for both lunch and dinner and La Luge grill which specializes in Savoyard cuisine. Both use locally sourced and seasonal produce. You can also have dinner at the hotel’s sister property – La Mourra – a delicious Japanese restaurant. The bar at Le Blizzard has a rather good cocktail menu!
Le Blizzard is really family friendly – older children love hanging out at the pool table whilst parents linger over dinner and babysitting can be arranged for younger ones. Cots are provided for those under three and the family suites are especially roomy.
Don’t forget to pack a swimming costume when you come here – the outdoor pool with its mountain views is a must. There’s also a hot tub, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The Spa uses Clarins products and you can book morning yoga and stretch.
There’s no hibernation in Val d’Isere – summers are simply bursting with life! Whether it’s the miles of trekking and biking trails, or the more extreme canyoning and paragliding, there are plenty of activities to keep you satisfied. For those seeking pure relaxation, Le Blizzard’s spa provides a wonderful refuge. The mountain scenery is utterly divine, and the temperatures stay mild. Better still, the Pisaillas glacier is open in the first weeks of July for winter skiing! Explore a summer in Val d’Isere today.
