F&P Must Do: Walking amongst the Troodos Mountains is a true Cypriot escapist haven and a must do especially during the Spring and Autumn. We also recommend visiting the adult only pool that is tucked away next to the spa, it is a fabulous child free zone and perfect for taking in the lovely sea views.

Within walking distance of the glories of the UNESCO heritage site of Paphos, and overlooking the bay, the Almyra is chic and cosmopolitan. Minimalist in design, inside and out, this is a hotel for leaving the everyday behind and soaking up the Cypriot way of life. Service is high on the agenda and guests are looked after with typical local warmth and friendliness, with families being made to feel especially welcome. Children love it here – there’s plenty of space and the kids club is brilliantly run. Outside, the gardens are cool, shady and beautifully manicured. Olive trees and white sail-like awnings keep the sun at bay, and double day beds beckon for you to spend the day, with the pool bar menu not far from hand. From here you can explore Paphos, or venture further afield to discover the treasures of Cyprus.
There’s a superb choice of rooms and suites at the Almyra, with views out over the Med and large, interconnecting options for families. All of which are going through a multimillion euro refurbishment this year to reopen in February 2020. Think clean lines and varying shades of blue inspired by the Mediterranean Sea that surrounds the island. They have used local craftsmen to create handmade oak and olive tree tables, the bathrooms are made out of marble and there are Smart TV’s in every room. They all feel incredibly luxurious and comfortable. The Superior Sea View Rooms can accommodate an extra bed or cot and have floor to ceiling windows giving a fabulous vista of Paphos fort, they can also interconnect for families. Go for the Veranda Sea View Room to enjoy private dining overlooking the turquoise waters of the bay. The Terrace Sea View Rooms come with a large sun-bathing terrace overlooking the infinity pool and beyond, and also have interconnecting options. Premium Sea View Aethon Rooms have sunny balconies and are close to the Spa. A spacious family option are the connecting Junior Suites with Veranda Sea View – these can accommodate two adults and up to four children. The Two Bedroom Suites work very well for families and are exceptionally spacious, with a sea view balcony. For a bit more luxe, book the Two Bedroom Deluxe Suite or the glamorous Connecting Kyma Suites with their panoramic rooftop terraces and living areas opening out onto the lawns looking out to sea.
Fresh local and seasonal produce is the order of the day here. And choice. From traditional Cypriot dishes in a taverna style setting, to delicious modern pan-Mediterranean and international cuisine, and to poolside snacks and meze, the Almyra has a mouthwatering selection of restaurants. Guests on half board also have the opportunity to eat at the Annabelle, the sister hotel next door. You’ll also find a very good private dining service, as well as healthy children’s menus.
The highly rated kids club at the Almyra caters for babies and children from four months to 11 years. Their team of experienced nannies and activities specialists, provide a range of games and watersports programmes for the older children, while making sure the younger ones have everything they need. Guests can pre-order baby essentials, including nappies before they arrive, which makes packing so much easier. There is also a babysitting service for guests who’d like a relaxing evening or dine out. A playground, freshwater children’s pool, children’s menus and interconnecting rooms make this a very family friendly hotel.
The renowned Alymraspa is an adult only haven overlooking the Mediterranean. With an indoor and outdoor infinity pool, rooftop lounge, sun terrace, yoga deck and treatment rooms, it’s a little oasis of calm and serenity and promises pure escapism. There are five pools in total throughout the hotel, a gym, flood lit tennis court, extensive gardens and guests can access a range of watersports – windsurfing and waterskiing are available under separate management, with kite-surfing just a little further away. Golfers have a choice of four excellent courses, and the front desk could not be more helpful in helping arrange excursions and suggesting itineraries, from chartering a boat to visiting some of the islands vineyards or exploring the Troodos Mountains.
