Almyra – Cyprus

Almyra – Cyprus

Within walking distance of the glories of the UNESCO heritage site of Paphos, and overlooking the bay, the Almyra is chic and cosmopolitan. Minimalist in design, inside and out, this is a hotel for leaving the everyday behind and soaking up the Cypriot way of life. Service is high on the agenda and guests are looked after with typical local warmth and friendliness, with families being made to feel especially welcome. Children love it here – there’s plenty of space and the kids club is brilliantly run.

Outside, the gardens are cool, shady and beautifully manicured. Olive trees and white sail-like awnings keep the sun at bay, and double day beds beckon for you to spend the day, with the pool bar menu not far from hand. From here you can explore Paphos, or venture further afield to discover the treasures of Cyprus.

Golfers have a choice of four excellent courses, and the front desk could not be more helpful in helping arrange excursions and suggesting itineraries, from chartering a boat to visiting some of the islands vineyards or exploring the Troodos Mountains.

Environmental sustainability is a key part of the ethos at Almyra. They aim wherever possible to reduce or mitigate their ecological footprint. The local community is engaged, both in sourcing produce and materials and in employing Cypriot staff, whilst also promoting local customs and traditions by sponsoring events. They donate food and services to local hospitals, churches, and schools, whilst also fostering an atmosphere of employee volunteerism by encouraging staff to participate in beach cleanings and charity events.

Several energy management initiatives have been introduced, like LED lighting and motion detectors to reduce unnecessary expenditure. As much heating as possible is also provided by Pellet and EcoFuel boilers.
