The Bothy is a charming luxury self-catered cottage located on the Killehuntly estate in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. It has a wee private garden, idyllic for admiring the sunset or watching the farm-life in action. It really feels like the perfect place for families to have some quality time together far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.


Being surrounded by the Caringorms National park it also makes a wonderful spot to explore and stomp around the breathtaking Scottish Highlands.  

This cottage has been designed beautifully, Everything here is well thought out with a mix of both Danish and Scottish craftsmanship. It sleeps 4 guests (2 adults and 2 children) in one master double bedroom and one bunk bed room. It has also boasts a fully equipped kitchen, sitting room and bathroom.

Self -catered to give you the freedom to cook whatever you like during your stay, or contact a third party caterer if you wish. The kitchen is stocked with some good staples, including salt & pepper, cooking oil, tea, coffee, and milk. There is also a closed herb garden and a good supply of fire wood and cleaning supplies.

The cottage is part of Wildland Ltd whose main aim is to restore and conserve natural landscapes and local communities so there are plenty of activities based around this. Explore this beautiful region by foot. Follow the paths or go your own way for a day with a well organised rucksack and a tasty Killiehuntly Piece. Fishing is very popular here. Spend the day with an experienced ranger who will also teach you about all the various different wildlife here. Take the fat tire mountain bikes out for a ride off the beaten track.


Go for a wild swim in the Tromie River. Have a ‘pony picnic’. Try the sauna yurt and work up a sweat. You can also visit the local Ruthven Barracks, one of the best preserved British barracks built during the Jacobite uprising or head to the Speyside whisky distillery. 

The Killiehuntly Estate

Located within the Carirngorms National Park, Killehuntly is just a two hour drive north of Edinburgh, yet you will feel like you are in another world when you arrive here. This estate is bursting with breathtaking natural beauty. Carirngorms National Park is home to an abundance of wildlife, castles and distilleries, excellently located within the Scottish Highlands. If you are a fan of country pursuits activities range from Deer Stalking, pony picnics, wild swimming, fishing and cycling.


There are also endless walking paths and trails that will take you on adventure through dense woodlands, lakes, rivers and valleys.

On the estate, there is also a greenhouse, an outdoor wooden plunge pool (cold) and a yurt sauna under the trees, and two outdoor fire pits that all guests can use that are staying on the estate. Parking is available.

In a 4,000-acre Highland estate, in Cairngorms National Park just south of Aviemore. The nearest train station is in the village of Kingussie which has good connections from Inverness, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
