Strathmore Lodge – The Scottish Highlands, Scotland
At a bend on the banks of the Strathmore River lies the Strathmore Lodge. Sheltered from the north-wind by trees it has been welcoming travellers since early 1900s. It is a renowned area for Salmon and Sea Trout fishing and the area is well known for being the birthplace of Scotland’s great Gaelic poet, Rob Donn who took inspiration from the stunning mountains, moors and water surrounding here. The lodge is truly off grid and situated in the middle of beautiful wilderness, rich with wildlife and endless views.
From first glance Strathmore Lodge looks like a classic traditional Highland tin-house that has been part of Scotland for decades. The lodge however has been extensively renovated in 2017 to have an eclectic bohemian and Bloomsbury inspired feel. It has 3 double bedrooms, a bathroom, living room with an original Morsoe cast iron fireplace and a welcoming kitchen that is the natural centre of the house. It is a true nature retreat, after spending a day exploring the great outdoors, sit back and relax by the fire before retreating to the bed with special homemade linen. Let your thoughts wonder off to the peaceful sound of the river.

The Lodge has three double bedrooms, two double rooms and one twin room all with wonderful new beds. A bathroom with a showerhead (handheld) and bathtub. A cosy living room with an original Morsoe cast iron fireplace and a lovely kitchen that is the natural centre of the house.

Self-Catered that gives you the freedom to cook whatever you like during your stay. The kitchen is stocked with some good staples, including salt & pepper, cooking oil, tea, coffee, milk, butter and some pasta.

The kitchen has a Raeburn stove and a log burning fire in the cosy living space. This is a very off-grid cottage so limited wi-fi is available via satellite, however there is little to no cell phone coverage. We invite you to truly retreat into the wild.

The cottage is part of Wildland Ltd whose main aim is to restore and conserve natural landscapes and local communities so there are plenty of activities based around this. Embrace the great outdoors in the vast grounds at your disposal. Take one of the hiking routes, go trail-running or mountain biking on the special Fatboy bikes. Head to the stunning beaches, take a picnic. Take one of the fishing rods and fish in some of the best fishing water in the World. You can also go deer hunting or sailing on the Atlantic Ocean. Or just enjoy some downtime with a book and unwinding in a glorious setting.
