Discover our holidays to Africa

Cut in two by the equator, with the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn lying to the north and south, and lapped by the waters of the Mediterranean and Red Seas and the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, Africa is a continent of contrasts. It encompasses deserts, impenetrable rainforests, vast plains, ice capped mountains, rivers that flow for thousands of miles and is home to a myriad of cultures and a wealth of wildlife. It’s a land of staggering beauty that has beguiled travellers for centuries. Our Africa specialist has over 20 years’ experience of working in luxury camps and creating bespoke itineraries, from safaris and overland odysseys to beach holidays. Your adventure starts here.

South Africa

A destination that has something for everyone, South Africa has some of the best stocked game reserves in the world; a first class culinary scene; spectacular beaches; breathtaking scenery and an endless list of unique experiences. From scenic wineland tours of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek to the cosmopolitan Cape Town dominated by Table Mountain, to luxury safari lodges in the Kruger National Park or tented camps in KwaZulu-Natal for the chance to see the Big Five, it’s hard to know where to begin. Drive the 300k coastal road on the southwest tip – the Garden Route – that takes you through mountains, forests and past deserted beaches, fingers crossed spotting whales on the way. Or climb up to the UNESCO World Heritage site of uKhahlamba, in the Drakensberg mountain range, with its soaring buttresses and natural beauty. We can create an itinerary just for you.

Kenya is the fabled land of safari (Swahili for journey), and there is no more spellbinding a sight than the teeming plains of the Masai Mara – one of the greatest wildlife reserves in the whole of Africa. Nothing quite prepares you for the raw beauty of this country – looking up at Mt Kilimanjaro from Amboseli National Park; thousands upon thousands of pink flamingos in Lake Nakuru; the savannahs and forests of the Lewa and Laikipia game conservancies; the misty Aberdare mountains with its endangered black rhino population and of course, the mighty Rift Valley that runs throughout. Move down to the Indian Ocean coast, and you’ll find some of Africa’s best beaches and little-known islands, where the marine life equals the diversity of the great plains. Your Kenya itinerary has so many possibilities – from safari to beach, or a very luxurious combination of both.

Why Visit?

Safaris – the word ‘Safari’ means journey in Swahili, Africa is the go to destination for a journey through some of the world’s wildest ecosystems where you can immerse yourself in wildlife encounters.

Adventure – this is a continent of exploration and discovery, and you certainly won’t be short of things to do. Witness the thundering hooves of the annual migration of wildebeest and Zebra in Kenya’s Masai Mara, stand on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater in Northern Tanzania, snorkel in the crystal clear waters of Lake Malawi, game view from your canoe on the mighty Zambezi River in Zambia, explore the water channels of Botswana’s Okavango Delta, climb up the red sand dunes of Sossusvlei in Namibia, hike up Table Mountain, enjoy a glass of South Africa’s finest wines in the winelands and relax on the white sandy, pristine beaches of Southern Mozambique.

The wine – Home to some of the most famous wine regions in the world, South Africa’s Cape is a wine lover’s dream and the perfect place to head out for a wine tour or take part in a wine tasting class in South Africa.

Climate – The best time to visit Kenya is during the two dry seasons (mid-June to October, and December to mid-March). For the Cape area of South Africa, mid-October to April is typically hot and sunny.  The northern reaches of the country have a different climate with cooler, drier temperatures from May through until September. From October through until April, expect to experience hotter but more humid weather

Vibrant culture – Rich in history, each African country has its own unique culture and heritage that is fascinating to explore.
