Children flown the nest? Time to travel

6th March 2024

Calling all parents whose children have flown the nest – AKA the “empty nesters”, who are now as free as birds to globe-trot, without having to please (and pay for) teens in tow. Now is the time to choose whatever you  want to do; whether you’re yearning to broaden your mind with some culture, seeking an adventure in a remote corner of the world or dreaming of a far-flung paradise island for some much deserved R&R… our team of travel experts are on hand to help you plan the ultimate escape.

Here are just some ideas to whet your appetite, but the possibilities are endless and we love nothing more than coming up with inspiring holidays to suit you. Everything can be tailored; and most importantly, everything is possible!

An Amalfi Road Trip

One of our favourite Italian road trips, this 6-night journey takes in the best Italian cuisine, culture and views along the way; an evening of old-school Italian glamour at the opera in Naples, a bedazzling drive along the Amalfi Coast to Positano and a guided tour of the fascinating ancient city of Pompeii.

Explore Sri Lanka

A 14-night trip around the cultural triangle this absolute gem includes the fascinating temples of Angurukaramulla and the Sacred Tooth Relic – as well as the ancient and dramatic rock palace, Sigiriya. You will also experience wildlife drives, tea plantations and flop onto astoundingly stunning golden sand beaches.

Combine Zambia & Malawi

A 14-night African wilderness adventure will make you feel a million miles away. Glide stealthily down the Zambezi by boat, spotting all sorts of reclusive wildlife along the way, go on a walking safari in the South Luangwa National Park before discovering the hidden beaches of Lake Malawi.

Discover South Africa

For history buffs, this is the chance to stay at Fugitives’ Drift and delve into the history of South Africa at KwaZulu Natal Battlefields guided by incredibly knowledgeable experts. This, combined with the beach, culture, mountains and bright lights of Cape Town makes for a fascinating trip.

Island hop around the Grenadines

Whether by yacht or using the extensive ferry network (don’t worry, we can help organise this all) bouncing from island to island means you’ll get a flavour of lots of different islands, with mini adventures along the way. Island hopping between Mustique, Bequia, Petit St Vincent and Canouan is quite spectacular.

Head to the Maldives in style

If you’re looking for barefoot unadulterated luxury; a palm-tree paradise with powdery white sands and azure Indian Ocean teeming with colourful fish, nothing quite beats the Maldives. We have curated a collection of simply stunning hotels and can even pair up with Sri lanka (only 1.5 hour flight) for a spot of culture.

Sailing in the BVI

Sailing in the BVI is the best way to explore these beautiful islands. Imagine a day that starts with waking up on the water, going for a paddle board before breakfast, a spot of snorkelling after lunch, and then lying in the Caribbean sun on the boat or heading to shore to sample the delicious restaurants or rum bars. With so much to see and do both on land and in the water sailing here nothing short of exceptional.
