A taste of the Alps in sunny England

Many of you may be familiar with the band Bring Your Sisters, famed the world over (well in Meribel certainly) for cover songs, packed out bars, lots of Jagermeister (or toffee vodka), and a generally excellent alpine night out. Staff and guests at Fish&Pips have enjoyed their twice weekly gigs at the Lodge du Village throughout the course of the season, never tiring of their creative renditions of popular (and not so popular) songs...  The band marked the end of the season with an appearance at Fish Stock. As we were all wondering what we were to do for six months without a BYS fix, we were informed of an exclusive UK appearance over the May bank holiday weekend. This was an event not to be missed. Hearing Gareth's incredible vocal rendition of Stayin' Alive by the BeeGees was suddenly a tempting prospect (yikes)!  They played two gigs over the weekend - one at the Thornhill Arms in Islington, North London and the other at a rather lovely pub in Oxshott, Surrey.  I was lucky enough to attend both and managed to see many faces from the Alps present and past - it seems that love for "the sisters" never dies no matter how long ago your first foray in to seasonal life occurred! Bring Your Sisters are play an important role in  most people's seasons spent in the Three Valleys and also provide a lively backdrop to many an apres session enjoyed by our guests.  Some favourite songs include those by Faithless, Elvis Presley, The BeeGees, Nelly, Kings of Leon, The Killers - to name a (rather diverse) few... These boys certainly know how to start a party!  Also starring in Philippa's wedding a few weeks ago it seems that their Celtic charm is just as effective on this side of the channel! They even made it into our Top Ten Things To Do In Meribel List!! Look out for them next season - if you are staying with us then just ask when they are playing - the Fish&Pips team will know the score! Thornhill Arms, Islington Clare x
